The Salon Academy seeks to provide the beauty industry with graduates who are a credit to the institution, their employers, and the Cosmetology industry. On a more personal basis, The Salon Academy strives to offer programs with the employability and earning potential of the graduate in mind. Therefore, our objectives of the program are:
1. To provide real life exposure to the role of a Cosmetologist.
2. To build a solid foundation of beauty culture technical skills.
3. To acquaint students with equipment and products essential to the profession.
4. To make each graduate aware of possible field of work and opportunities for advancement.
5. To impress upon each graduate the necessity for ongoing education to insure professional improvement.
6. To maintain adequate flexibility so as to identify and include frequent product and styling innovations in the department areas.
7. To fulfill all State Board of Cosmetology requirements for licensing.
The Salon Academy's main campus is located at 440 Marshall Street in Coldwater, MI within the Fairfield Plaza. There is a separate classroom for each level of instruction, with a "clinic" area for the public where students are supervised by licensed instructors to practice on men, women and children to gain "hands on experience". The school occupies 7500 square feet in a mall type location.
Our second campus is located at 2103 W. Michigan Avenue, in Jackson, Michigan across from the Westwood Mall. This location occupies 3960 square feet in a mall type location. There is a separate classroom for each level of instruction with a "clinic" area for public, where students are supervised by licensed instructors to practice on men, women and children to gain "hands on experience".
Both schools maintain modern facilities and equipment for students to learn current hair, skin and nail techniques with design.
The Salon Academy admission policy requires all students to hold a high school diploma or a high school graduation equivalency diploma (GED). The Administrator can assist those without a diploma in ways to obtain a diploma or GED thus qualifying for admission to The Salon Academy. Admission to the Cosmetology Instructor program requires a current Michigan Cosmetology license. It is the policy of The Salon Academy not to discriminate on the basis of race, sex, national origin, ethnic origin, age, color, religion, or handicap in the educational programs, activities, employment or recruitment.
